Contract solution
Designing for one global process across different sales departments, training and establishing product testing loops. Establishing shared ways of working across 10 UX designers.
This concept is an internal Maersk tool that builds the structure for the clauses and content behind customer contracts, helping legal and sales teams get the correct Terms & Conditions into the right contracts, part of a larger contract-management ecosystem.
At Maersk I worked on an internal product that builds the components and content behind customer contracts, focused on getting the correct Terms & Conditions and clauses into the right contracts for legal and sales teams.
The business assumed a largely standardised, global process. User research told a different story: teams across regions created and managed contracts in substantially different ways. Designing a single, consistent experience that still respected those real workflow differences became the central challenge, as did the fact that the tool was one part of a much larger contract-management ecosystem.
- UX design of user flows, interaction flows and process flows, within the product and across the wider product suite.
- Ran various rounds of user testing on the solution.
- UI design and implementation of the Maersk design system.
- Led design practice across 10 designers, defining shared ways of working with Design Thinking to align approach, quality and collaboration.
- Facilitated workshops with business owners, SMEs and engineers to establish shared ways of working.
- Trained and onboarded stakeholders in user-centred design and methods, including user testing and product launch.
I introduced better ways of collecting user insight and new ways to validate feature concepts with both stakeholders and end users, surfacing the regional differences the business hadn't accounted for. Mapping the real user and process flows made those differences visible and gave the teams a shared basis to design against.
Alongside the product work, I led design practice across 10 designers: defining shared ways of working through Design Thinking, facilitating workshops with business owners, SMEs and engineers, and training stakeholders in user-centred methods so that research and testing became part of how the group worked, not an afterthought.
Outcome
The work aligned varying regional workflows into a consistent experience for building contract components, giving legal and sales teams confidence that the right clauses were included in the right contracts, with better visibility into the contract-creation process across the wider ecosystem.
- 10 designers I led to a shared design practice
- Global user base aligned across regions
